And stop calling me shirley…
Well, thought I’d just post up a wee blog entry out of boredom, just on design matters in general. Soooo…
Turns out Channel Five are rebranding themselves again, which I find a shame, the last set of idents and logos were really well thought out I think. Still, this is an interesting angle to go from (no “that’s what she said” jokes, please). It looks sort of like a logo for a news crew in Ron Burgundy’s world, but I’m not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing. I like the retro sort of look to it, but at the same time, if they were a US channel this rebranding would make them disappear in a sea of other networks with identical, plain branding. But they aren’t, so it could still work.
I find the branding of a TV channel something pretty interesting, as you’ve got to include moving graphics, design logos, sound logos, everything has to be redone. Sky have also had a bit of a rebrand, keeping the classic glassy lettering, but for its channels opting for a pretty dull way of selling themselves, which is a shame, because they also had it pretty nailed beforehand.
Ah well, obscure rant over.
Also I found this site a while ago, I’d highly recommend people go check it out:
